This weekend’s Grand Prix of Baltimore presented by SRT (2 p.m. EST, Sunday, NBCSN) is a pivotal one for several drivers, especially defending IZOD IndyCar Series champion Ryan Hunter-Reay as he seeks to continue his quest for a repeat and The Championship. He enters the weekend third in points, trailing championship leader Helio Castroneves by 62 points (479-417).
A year ago in Baltimore, a mix of an excellent strategy by Andretti Autosport team owner and strategist Michael Andretti, coupled with a perfect last restart to take the lead from Ryan Briscoe, propelled Hunter-Reay to his fourth win of 2012 and within 17 points of Will Power going into the championship-decider at Fontana.
Ryan’s secret weapon in his aim to retain The Izod Indy Car Championship is Performance Physixx. He has been continuing out of Car preparation by following a specific program crafted for him, with some unique changes this year by Performance Physixx Director Simon Hayes.
Hayes who attended last years Grand Prix where Hunter-Reay pulled off the Victory which set him up for the Championship win, is currently in Europe dealing with family issues and should return before the end of the Season. But says Hunter-Reay has been physically prepared for each race and has not had any issues with regards to his personal fitness. ‘He is ready to win again’.
